Wildlife and sights in the neighbourhood

One sees these signs in many windows in Quebec regarding COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus disease which began in 2019) and roughly translated it means "We will be fine".  I understand that in Ontario, people put teddy bears in their windows which pleases passing children. :-)

Because of the restrictions put in place to stay at home and only go out for solo walks or to get groceries and other essential supplies, I have been limiting my photographic excursions to a small area in my neighbourhood within the Montreal borough of Saint-Laurent.  Luckily for me, this area encompasses two college campuses.  I have explored these places before but never to any great extent.  The wildlife I have encountered these last few weeks has been amazing!  The most exceptional creature being a Wild Turkey!

And last but not least, here is a photograph of the recent super Moon.  I guess I can't claim that it is in my neighbourhood (as the title implies) but it sure was a lovely sight from my window!

Bathing Beauties

Probably due to weather conditions and strong southerly winds, many of the migrating warblers moved into the Montreal area in May and stayed longer than usual.  Large numbers stopped over in the Botanical Gardens to rest, bathe and feed.

Luckily for me, I found a secluded area with a small stream which attracted quite a variety of bathers.  

Here is a selection of some of the residents and visitors (warblers) who frequented the stream and gave me the opportunity to witness their enjoyment of a cool bath!

A few photos from last week-end

A couple of pictures of a raccoon being cute (head tucked in tree cavity and dipping its paw in a container of rain water). A flower with an iridescent green fly and a Goldfinch on a thistle. Another post of few words! :-)

Woodland denizens

Well, I posted about my sightings of last Friday and then another post of Saturday's adventure, so here is a sampling of the creatures I crossed paths with last Sunday. If you look closely at the wide, narrow photo you will see a Vole looking at a Sparrow. And what about the smiling Squirrel!?
